for your petrol Land Rover
The 4.2 Litre Jaguar engine fitted to the Range Rover Sport and LM models offers excellent all round performance. However, the tune is set for “average” conditions and there are therefore some compromises in terms of power output. This will be particularly noticable when towing, or in extreme driving conditions.
Graeme Cooper Automotive now offers two stages of upgrade to the standard superchargers.
Supercharger upgrade stage 1
A “stage 1” upgrade comprised a new pulley kit at under $500 for owner installation, but for an additional $800, GCA will fit and tune the installation. This “stage 1” version generates significant torque increases, right through the power range, providing stronger accelleration, overtaking-ability and higher top speed with minimal change in fuel efficiency. (typically less than one-half litre per 100 Km) This is the most practical and cost-effective upgrade.
This graph illustrates the power curves before and after a “stage 1” upgrade
Supercharger upgrade stage 2
A “stage 2” upgrade involves machining the existing supecharger housing, as well a fitting new componentry. The additional output occurs right throughout the power range. This will appeal to drivers routinely undertaking extensive journeys, especially in hilly regions. The conversion can only be done in the GCA workshop with a preliminary inspection determining precisely what work needs to be done.
