Replacing the Land Rover 4.0 and 4.6 litre engines,models after 2001 adopted the BMW Aluminium 90 degree DOHC V8 with 4 valves per cylinder. Power rose to 282 BHP with Bosch sequential multiport fuel injection, mass airflow sensor and distributorless, 4 knock sensors, dual mode electronic throttle, engine drag torque control & one touch starting.

In the performance graph below, the black line is the "first run" prior to tuning. The red line shows the significant increase in power achieved using the dynamometer as a measurement tool by the Graeme Cooper engineer
